Declan O’Donovan grew up in the Yukon in northern Canada, where the wide horizons and long winters shape how you hear silence and sound. That sense of space runs through his music—songs that move easily between folk, rock, and soul, carrying a weight that feels both lived-in and searching. Over the past decade, O’Donovan has built a career that defies categories with records that established him as a songwriter with a restless ear, folding piano-driven storytelling into arrangements that veer from stripped-down ballads to something larger and electric. Music from a singer-songwriter tradition that evolved into an earthy baroque psychedelia. Tours across Canada, Europe, and Japan have expanded that vision, bringing his songs into rooms and festivals where intimacy and intensity meet.

His upcoming album, Forever, Never at All (2026), is the next chapter in that arc. Written and recorded between the Yukon, British Columbia’s gulf islands, and the southern coast of Ireland, the record digs into questions of time, memory, migration and family. The songs lean into strong melodies and vivid lyricism while exploring new textures— found in an ever-evolving relationship to the piano that sees Declan utilizing alternative recording and performance techniques.
