The 11th Iceland Airwaves festival will be held 14-18 October 2009
Over the past few months Mr. Destiny has been busy booking the first set of acts and already have confirmed over 40 international and local acts.
The festival will maintain the same format as previous years with approximately 150 artists performing over various venues around Reykjavik downtown area. As before Icelandair will extensively market the festival internationally and sell package tours to the event and close to 2000 guests from both sides of the Atlantic are expected to attend this year. The interest of the international music media and industry in the festival has been steadily increasing, and this year a lot of new faces are expected to join an already established group of regulars at Iceland Airwaves.

Same as previous years, Iceland Airwaves will have a lot of various co-operation projects. For example special nights will be held with music labels Moshi Moshi, Kimi Records, Grapewire, Bedroom Community, Morr Music, PZ radio show and Kerrang Magazine. More co-operation projects will be announced shortly
International artists that want to apply to play at the festival need to apply through www.sonicbids.com before the 14th of August.
For the first time local artists will be able to apply electronically through www.icelandairwaves.com. The application process will open on the 7 July and end on the 14th of August. On the 1st of September those who will play the festival will be announced.
